Settling in back home in the City of Broad Shoulders to celebrate the holiday. Lots of awesome stuff going on here at MwBC headquarters, look out for our first interview later in the week!
For suds this week, let’s commemorate one of the Midwest’s finest sons: Mark Twain. Here’s a link to one of his finest short stories, “The Invalid’s Story,” about a quaint fellow from Wisconsin and some limburger cheese. Twain also had his autobiography released this year, exactly 100 years after his death (Twain requested this). Mixed reviews on the whole thing.
–Chicagoist names their beer of the week: Bell’s Batch 10,000.
–Michigan’s Most Popular Alehouse release three more beers in bottles. Damn, these labels look fantastic.
–MN readers, do this! Surly is throwing a release party for Abrasive Ale.
–Some details on Half-Acre’s On Photon festival.
-Homebrewers, unite! A winter beer competition hosted by Northern Brewer Supply, Milwaukee Brewing Company, Milwaukee Mid-winter Brew Fest and the Beer Barons of Milwaukee. Registration begins January 1st, so get it together. Perhaps I’ll enter my Mandelbrodt Chocolate Ginger Porter…
–Beer Here. Great review of Winterland by Hinterland Brewing.
–Public House to open soon in the River North neighborhood of Chicago. Looks like they’re throwing quite the NYE bash as well.
-Sort of strange article for the WSJ about building bars in your house.
-Only 5 more days until Doctor Who starts again!
