Suds: January 7

Currently on my way back to Madison where I will be stationed for the foreseeable future. It’s only a matter of time before we get buried in snow again, so I will revel in the plain cold.

Fear no art. Or Whole Foods.

Did you know that there is no evidence that the Vikings wore horns on their helmets? For today’s Suds, check out this fascinating list of common misconceptions and grab a Furthermore Proper. Delicious.

-If you’re not too busy later and live in the Twin Cities, head on over to Fitty’s for some Tallgrass and Goose’s Bourbon Barrel Stout.

Isthmus Beer Here: Furthermore’s Hopperbolic.

-More from the Isthmus: a map of beer gardens! If you’re in Madison, drop me a line and we’ll meet up for a pint.

-The best title of an article I’ve read today: “Dry-hopped Death Match.” It’s more from Northern Brewer about beer engines and how they compare to carbon dioxide pumping.

Harriet Brewing coming soon to the MN.

Nice article about beer styles from the Star Tribune.

-Meet me in St. Louis for Schlafly’s Cabin Fever. Get your tickets now, they will sell out!

I can think of far worse fates for all of that now-illegal Four Loko.

-Sometimes democracy is an awful idea, especially when voting for favorite beer of the year. In this list, 3Floyd’s cracks the top ten.

A Year in Beer from the MN based beer blog A Perfect Pint.

-I once spent a night in a cave with some Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale. I regret nothing about that night, and can only assume it has something to do with why they’re doing so well selling their beer in cans.

-Nice review of Flossmore Station’s Pullman Brown Ale from the guys at Midwest Beer.

-Finally, here is a really strange article from the Wisconsin State Journal about Bill Amundson’s return to Wisconsin. The man is sort of a legend because he has two beers named in his honor. Oh yeah, and he paints really amazing critiques of modern life (see above image).
