While I wasn’t paying attention, everyone who loves food decided to dedicate certain weeks to one culinary speciality. It’s sort of like Craft Beer Week, except that it really only exists somewhere in the blogosphere (which is sort of like Tom Clancy’s Net Force, or so I’ve heard).
Regardless, this week is burger week presented by Eater Chicago. They’re celebrating by talking to Chicago’s favorite burger places to find out how much of everything they use on a given day. So. Much. Kethchup.
If there’s one thing I indulge in, it’s cheeseburgers and beer. The two go hand and hand, and none better than this one from my usual Madison hangout, the Old Fashioned.
I take mine medium-rare with a Schlitz. So get out there this week and celebrate your favorite burger. May I suggest pairing it with Ale Asylum’s latest pale ale, Ballistic? Or for a more refined affair, try the Rendezvous from Lakefront.
-We reported on this last week, but the situation has become more dire. The Great Lakes Beerfest may have to move out of Racine.
–Rhinelander Brewing is growing! And they’re making 7 ounce bottles? Yes, they’re making 7 ounce bottles. Wow.
–BrauFest June 3 and 4th. Holy hell, this sounds like the most amazing festival ever. I’m going to set up my tent right now to get ready.
-Great label: 21st Amendment Hop Crisis.
-Nice review from some nice dudes: Goose Island’s Pepe Nero. I tasted one of these last night, quite a lot of flavor.
-AB banned from Rock City Brewfest in Hunstville, Alabama. Keep your macroswill out of our festivals!
-Finally, Prince William bans beer from the royal wedding. I can safely say that I will be sending my invitation back to Prince William, sucks to your ass-mar!
